Coach Education
In recent times, there has been a growth in the acceptance that
irrespective of the sport, participants must have access to “expert coaches” at every level. A
successful coach education programme must aim to provide
coaches with a skills set of knowledge, understanding and
communication which they can share with their athletes.
Although the specific competencies of coaches vary
across sport, it is important that all coaches develop a
base skill set, with expert coaches having specific knowledge in their chosen
sport. An “expert” coach must be able to share their
experience and knowledge in a wide range of situations with
the ultimate goal of improving the performance and or
enjoyment of the athlete.
